SPOILERS BELOWSo Spy School is technically no more, but Ben and a select others are kept on for training since they've proven themselves。 Unfortunately (for them), Cyprus's history gets them involved in another mission。 It leads to an adventure that takes our favorite characters from Alaka to Russia! Which was fun to read 😃 Also liked the bit of history we get about how the US aquired Alaska。 Even if half of it was fake to fit the story plot lolIt could still lead kids to research this piece of history。 I know I get curious about the facts vs fiction and have fun looking things up 😁Great read! Looking forward to more! 。。。more
Barbara Hackel,
This is a fun series about kids being "real" spies and their training for the CIA。 Sure it's a little unrealistic to think of 14 year old kids actually doing all the spy things, but it's fiction! The author is very creative and interjects humor into the story and minimizes anything gruesome。 But I am still wondering why he found it necessary to have Zoe suddenly get over her crush for Ben and become involved with a Russian girl who is also a spy。 I felt it was a questionable judgement call and t This is a fun series about kids being "real" spies and their training for the CIA。 Sure it's a little unrealistic to think of 14 year old kids actually doing all the spy things, but it's fiction! Ranee,
I have loved the Spy School series but this one did not sit well with me in many ways, especially for juvenile fiction。 I concur with some of the other 1 and 2 star ratings。 If there’s another book in the series, which the ending hints at, I hope it’s more like the earlier ones。
Ellie,
What happened to the old spy school stories?
Ruby,
Great!

My rating might be a little low because I am an adult。 The plot was the good guys against the bad guys。 My trouble with the book was believing a bunch of young teens who constantly got themselves into seemingly impossible situations were able to get out of them with little problems。 The fact that they could overcome bad guys who were adults with physical force seemed ludicrous。 I guess, similar storylines in most recent Sylvester Stallone movies where 70 year olds are overcoming 30 year old bad My rating might be a little low because I am an adult。 The plot was the good guys against the bad guys。 My trouble with the book was believing a bunch of young teens who constantly got themselves into seemingly impossible situations were able to get out of them with little problems。 The fact that they could overcome bad guys who were adults with physical force seemed ludicrous。 I guess, similar storylines in most recent Sylvester Stallone movies where 70 year olds are overcoming 30 year old bad guys are just as ludicrous。 I imagine if you are a 12 or 13 year old this might be a great book to read。 And any books that can get young people to put down their phones or video games is a positive。 。。。more

Robin Perkins,
I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway。This was an interesting book for a middle schooler, in fact my daughter (14 years old) is very interested to read it。 There are several age appropriate funny anecdotes。 It is a good story that is not to complicated。 It was a fun easy to read book。

Spy School Goes North was a decent continuation to the Spy School series。 I liked the idea of the main characters having private lessons in Alaska, and the submarine plot was fantastic。 However, there were a few twists that I wasn't a fan of。 Overall, the book was alright。 Spy School Goes North was a decent continuation to the Spy School series。 I liked the idea of the main characters having private lessons in Alaska, and the submarine plot was fantastic。 However, there were a few twists that I wasn't a fan of。 Overall, the book was alright。 。。。more

SSGN is a wonderful, action packed novel, but it's very underwhelming, and finishing this book felt like more of a chore, which I have never experienced in a book written by Stuart Gibbs。What sets this novel back is simply the plot。 That's it。 The action sequences are decent, but the plot is very, very unsatisfying。 What made the previous spy school novels so interesting and intense was the overarching mystery element paired with an extremely satisfying ending。 SSGN fails to provide an exciting SSGN is a wonderful, action packed novel, but it's very underwhelming, and finishing this book felt like more of a chore, which I have never experienced in a book written by Stuart Gibbs。What sets this novel back is simply the plot。 That's it。 The action sequences are decent, but the plot is very, very unsatisfying。 What made the previous spy school novels so interesting and intense was the overarching mystery element paired with an extremely satisfying ending。 SSGN fails to provide an exciting mystery element, and the resolution is well thought out, but it just feels lazy。 In addition, what made the Spy School novels were the addition of more and more characters, because it felt very lively and exciting。 Now I understand that the point of going North was for isolation, but the book just feels too empty, and again, its very underwhelming。 However, this book is far more funnier than the others, so that's an improvement。Pros:- Some very intense moments and action packed sequences- Humor- More relationships created between characters & a side arc of dramaCons:- Plot itself is very underwhelming and disappointing- Every problem that happens against Ben is solved within 3-4 pages, which is disappointing as well 。。。more

This is the eleventh book of the Spy School Series。 The school has moved to Alaska to hide。 The gang must save Grandpa Hale from the Russians and stop the Doomsday Day Plot!

this one moved a bit slower than some of the other ones, but it was still fun and silly。 i liked that zoe was given a new plotline and i found hers to be interesting (though i do think it's a bit ridiculous for a 14 year old to be stressing over not having a romantic partner, i can relate to the feeling of feeling like all your friends have one and you don't。 also it's a bit funny that she just falls for the first person their age she encounters like it's a bit iconic)。 the action drama was fun, this one moved a bit slower than some of the other ones, but it was still fun and silly。 i liked that zoe was given a new plotline and i found hers to be interesting (though i do think it's a bit ridiculous for a 14 year old to be stressing over not having a romantic partner, i can relate to the feeling of feeling like all your friends have one and you don't。 also it's a bit funny that she just falls for the first person their age she encounters like it's a bit iconic)。 the action drama was fun, helicopters were fun to read about idk LOLi also like how ben and erica's relationship isn't super mushy because it would feel extremely out of character for erica。 their mutual respect for each other and how she's genuinely excited for him and defends his value as a team member is cute and i just really love their relationship。 i also really liked how ben realizes he's become a lot more competent and just didn't realize because he was always comparing himself to everyone else (who had a head start on him and were always progressing, so he always felt behind。) it was a really cool character moment when he realized he was able to knock out his first bad guy! like yeah dude, it only took 11 books, but i'm so happy for you! i really only read these books because i love erica and her family drama with cyrus at the end chef's kiss no notes i love ittl;dr: i <3 erica hale 。。。more

Jill,
very politicalIt is a little overwhelming how much was put into this book that was political。 It detracted from the actual story which was a kind of sad plot to begin with。 Again Ben is inept and barely saves the day but he does。 Tina is back and helps save them from the walri。 Would the CIA take a sneaky Russian spy? I would doubt it。 Why can’t he just retire? It’s probably because they want to keep his granddaughter around since she’s the same as Erica but different。Overall it was kind of crin very politicalIt is a little overwhelming how much was put into this book that was political。 It detracted from the actual story which was a kind of sad plot to begin with。 Again Ben is inept and barely saves the day but he does。 Tina is back and helps save them from the walri。 Would the CIA take a sneaky Russian spy? From my 10-year old: First time reading a book from the series (all his friends knew about the series) he completed the book in a few days and was so excited by all the action packed scenes。 He found many parts funny。 We will be getting the rest of the series。 Thank you Goodreads giveaway and to the publisher for a copy

I won this book from a giveaway which I was super excited about, but after reading it… Spy School Goes North really disappointed me。 The plot was fairly exciting, but it was basically identical to all the other spy school plots。 Which makes sense, considering that this is the ELEVENTH book in the series。 The only thing that was really different was the location being in Alaska, which was actually pretty interesting and one of the few redeeming factors。 I feel like the best way for this series t I won this book from a giveaway which I was super excited about, but after reading it… Spy School Goes North really disappointed me。 The plot was fairly exciting, but it was basically identical to all the other spy school plots。 Which makes sense, considering that this is the ELEVENTH book in the series。 The only thing that was really different was the location being in Alaska, which was actually pretty interesting and one of the few redeeming factors。 I feel like the best way for this series to stop being repetitive is to just make one final book and finish it up。 And for another thing, Mr。 Gibbs is not the best at writing romantic relationships。 Ben and Erica's relationship was barely talked about, which I somewhat understand because this is a middle grade book, but if you're not going to develop a relationship maybe just don't put it in at all。 And I'm going to try not to give too many spoilers, but ahem, another relationship that developed in this book was pretty much love at first sight, and it seemed really unrealistic and unnecessary。 Not to mention it was a gay relationship, which I do not like at all in middle grade books ESPECIALLY when it's one of the children/teens themselves。 Disagree with me all you want, but it was just ridiculous。 It would have been bad even as a normal guy and girl relationship。 Also, I'm getting really tired of Murray Hill, (yes he's in this book YET AGAIN lol) though that might be a testament to the author's writing skills。 He sure can write an annoying character。 Overall, I feel like this author's books have been deteriorating now for a few years。 Yes, there have been some good books, like the Once Upon A Tim series (which I love), and the third Charlie Thorne book。 But the last two Funjungle books, Spy School book, and now this one have all honestly just been really bad。 In spite of all this, I'm sure there will still be tons of Spy School fans raving over this book, but it was definitely not for me and others I know。 I hope this series gets better, but I'm not holding my breath。Also a special thanks to Amy for reading this book and writing another review with me 。。。more
